San Diego Comic-Con 2012 : Gentle Giant Exclusives

What is it...20 days ..give or take..and counting before San Diego Comic Con drops on our delicate little craniums?!! All the press people I know are tensed and ready for the inevitable rush of news on exclusives, promotions, events and interview ops and slowly but surely, the toy companies are spilling their guts. Today, we are very privileged to to present a killer statue from Gentle Giant...

The Pale Man Statue from Pan's Labyrinth : $225 - 300 pieces - The Pale Man who gorged on excess was banished to a den in the netherworld. Unable to feast on the banquet before him, his body shriveled and his humanity withered away. His only sustenance was the blood of innocents. A meal he relished in hunting himself. He kept a watchful eye over a dagger with a hilt of gold, for he feared it to be the only object that could cause him harm. In truth it’s presence kept him alive. Once the blade was removed, he collapsed unto himself and faded from existence. From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro comes a dark fairy tale about a young girl named Ofelia, who enters a mysterious labyrinth and finds herself at the center of a ferocious battle between good and evil.

Guillermo Del Toro himself will be signing at the Gentle Giant booth at SDCC, so check the schedule as the show approaches for more details on that to assure you get your statue signed! You can also guarantee you get your Pale Man statue by pre-ordering RIGHT HERE! (We are pretty sure following the link will let you pre-order the lot, but you may have to be a part of their club to do so. Worth checking out!)

Thanos Mini Bust : $75 - 500 Pieces - Thanos. The Mad Titan. Deviant Eternal. Wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet. One of the oldest villains in the Marvel Universe, Thanos was introduced during the Bronze Age of comic books. Since then, he’s wreaked havoc across multiple titles (including his own), all in the name of courting the object of his desire, Mistress Death.

Hand-crafted by the master artisans at Gentle Giant, this high-quality polystone mini bust depicts the modern comic book-style Thanos and his ultimate weapon, the Infinity Gauntlet. From the crags on his chin to each individual embedded gem in the Gauntlet, no detail has been overlooked. Hand-painted and individually numbered, this convention exclusive is a must-have for all True Believers. Make Mine Marvel!

Blue Snaggletooth 12” Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figure : $80 - 2,000 Pieces - Blue Snaggletooth is the informal name of a rare Kenner action figure from 1978. Released as part of the Sears “Star Wars Cantina Adventure Set”, the Snaggletooth figure was intended to represent the character who would later be known as Zutton. However, the only reference used for the figure was a partial black and white photograph of the alien’s head. The body was unknown, so the sculptors and artists improvised, creating a tall alien with a tight blue spacesuit and silver boots. From 1979 onward, including later Sears releases of the cantina set, all versions of Snaggletooth were changed to a red color, with bare feet and hands and shorter legs.

Blade II Blu-Ray & Reaper Mini Bust Set : $99 - 500 pieces - Blade II, directed by Guillermo Del Toro is on Blu-Ray at last! This convention-exclusive edition includes the blu-ray disc and a hand-crafted, limited edition Reaper mini bust created by the master artisans at Gentle Giant Ltd.! (I know..I checked three times to make sure this was a 2012 exclusive!)

Admiral Motti Mini Bust : $80 - 1,200 pieces - Admiral Motti was head of the Imperial Naval operations aboard the Death Star. Motti was overly-confident in his belief that the Death Star was invulnerable to any threat posed by the Rebel Alliance. He was even arrogant enough to openly question Darth Vader for his failure to locate a secret Rebel base. For this, Vader Force-choked Motti, only to have Grand Moff Tarkin intervene at the last moment, ordering the Dark Lord to relent. This highly-detailed mini bust, based on the original Lucasfilm costumes and props, was sculpted and painted by Gentle Giant Ltd. We hope you enjoy it.

Each COA has been signed by Admiral Motti himself, actor Richard LeParmentier, and Richard will be appearing at the Gentle Giant booth at San Diego Comic Con 2012 to sign the actual bust! We hope you’ll join us. Check future blog postings or the SDCC Convention Guide for details.

McQuarrie Stormtrooper Mini Bust : $85 - 1,800 pieces - Ralph McQuarrie’s early designs of the Imperial Stormtrooper are uniquely different from that of the final screen version. Based on original pre-production illustrations from Star Wars: A New Hope, this mini bust displays a fascinating look at McQuarrie’s conceptual development of the Imperial Stormtrooper. This highly-detailed mini bust, based on the original Lucasfilm costumes and props, was sculpted and painted by Gentle Giant Ltd and includes several interchangeable pieces. We hope you enjoy it.
