Answer The Call of the Dead

The best thing about my job is the unpredictability. Today I received a fairly unmarked poster tube from Activision containing a poster for something called CALL Of The DEAD!! Dun dun dun duuuuun. Here's the skinny...

Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) and Treyarch revealed today that famed horror and action stars Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker and Danny Trejo have joined the cast of Call of Duty®: Black Ops Escalation's zombie level, Call of the Dead. The Call of the Dead zombie level and four all new multiplayer maps make up the second content pack, Escalation, for the record-setting game Call of Duty: Black Ops, launching first on Xbox LIVE® on May 3rd. Dedicated to creating a Zombie experience like never before, the Call of the Dead storyline is inspired by none other than legendary horror writer and director, George A. Romero, who also stars as himself in the new level.

"Our latest zombie creation, Call of the Dead, is unreal!" says Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch. "We set out to create an exciting new zombie experience for fans of the genre that takes Zombies to an insane new level."

"This is Treyarch's tribute to the legendary George Romero, who truly defined the zombie genre and whose incredible work has been such an inspiration to our team," says Dave Anthony, Call of Duty: Black Ops Director. "It was an absolute honor to work with such an amazing and talented cast whose passion and energy brought their characters instantly to life. Fans are going to love this."

In addition to George A. Romero, whose credits include Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead, he is joined by Sarah Michelle Gellar, whose credits include the hit TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Cruel Intentions; Robert Englund, best known for originating the role of Freddy Krueger in the successful Nightmare on Elm Street franchise; Michael Rooker, most recently acclaimed for his work on AMC's horror drama The Walking Dead; and Danny Trejo, who starred in 2010's action-thriller Machete.

Published by Activision and developed by Treyarch, Call of Duty: Black Ops is rated "M" (Mature) by the ESRB for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence and Strong Language. Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation content pack will launch first on Xbox LIVE on May 3rd. For additional Call of Duty updates and information, visit us on the web at www.callofduty.com/blackops, www.facebook.com/codblackops, and also via Twitter @Treyarch.

The poster sent over is ABSOLUTELY something fans will be fiending for once word gets out. The fold lines in this poster are a part of the art, adding to that Grindhouse feel. The Call of the Dead letters on the poster are actually raised up and super glossy for a bloody effect while the background behind the "hunters" seems slightly metallic, giving the whole thing a 3D feel. Happy Hunting!

SDCC: Mattel's San Diego Comic Con Exclusives

The weather is heating up, so its time to start compiling your lists to see how in debt you will be after San Diego Comic Con this year! YAY credit cards!! After NECA's first strike, Mattel jumps into the ring with an exclusive showing on G4, revealing half their goodies and teasing the rest in quick, nose bleed rendering pans across the rest. Luckily, we live in the future where I can do screen caps and bring back the eye candy and the info, as best I can manage from blurry source material. Here's the rundown so far:

Vinylmation Realizing Disney Afternoon Toy Dreams

If you are just now hearing the word "Vinylmation" for the first time, never fear. You haven't missed the boat entirely, you are just late to the game! Vinylmation is Disney's entry into the world of vinyl art toys. The model is to make a form or shape and release it printed with a wide range of designs. For small companies, the high price point reflects the low number of pieces made for a series. It isn't that you are paying more for the exclusivity of the piece (though that helps ease the pain)...its largely the fault of the factory producing the toys setting the price higher with these lower runs. As time went on, I suppose people accepted the prices as a standard of their collecting, so now when a new company jumps into the ring, it doesn't matter if they have the resources to print items in larger numbers for less money. You're still going to pay 10 bucks for a 3 inch figure! THAT would be the downside.

On the upside, the figures are pretty damn cool and Disney, having a pool of incredible artists at their disposal, is making the most of their Mickey Mouse-like form utilizing characters from their animated worlds as well as original designs you can't help but gawk over. Among the must-have characters are the citizens of the Nightmare Before Christmas world, Chip and Dale, Pluto and a host of other characters in Nerd gear, a two figure set for Pete's Dragon, Kevin Flynn from the original Tron, a series for The Muppets (complete with Pigs in Space), a Star Wars series (Boba Mouse will be mine one day) and a whoooole series just for Disney Villains!! Now Disney finally took notice of all of our 80's cartoon favorites returning, and sometimes re-imagined and probably said to themselves..."Hey..Didn't we make some great shows back then?" Thus, the Disney Afternoon series was born.

The line kicks off with a 2 pack for Tale Spin; that odd show that answered the question "What if the characters from Jungle Book went out and got jobs?" Wackiness ensued. The pack includes Kit and Baloo and retails for around 26 and change via Disney Parks (which comes up empty, so now I'm assuming Ebay?" The next set will be from Duck Tales and includes Launchpad McQuack and Scrooge McDuck! Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers and Goof Troop are on deck for later sets.

If all this wets your whistle you can be further tempted by a Steampunk series and Pirates of the Carribean, all coming soon! Hit up the Disney Vinylmation website for details, sneak peeks and to start amassing your army today!

In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort.
It all ends here.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, reprising their roles as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Jim Broadbent, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, CiarĂ¡n Hinds, John Hurt, Jason Isaacs, Matthew Lewis, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, David Thewlis, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters and Bonnie Wright.

The film was directed by David Yates, who also helmed the blockbusters “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.” David Heyman, the producer of all of the Harry Potter films, produced the film, together with David Barron. Diamond Select's Munsters Action Figures

Ah yes. That theme song. Instantly recognizable and so, so hard to resist breaking out in a boogie when heard. Diamond Select knows we love the goofiest monster family that ever was (not to be confused with cooky, which is the Addams Family) and will be releasing your long wished for Munsters action figures this October!

The fans have spoken and they want more horror for their Hallloween and DST has been listing- we now present the next property in the acclaimed Select line, The Munsters! (click for more images!) TV's first family of horror! Who does not remember watching the exploits of Herman, Lilly and Grampa back in the days before color TV! Sculpted by legendary sculptor Jean St. Jean, featuring a selection of accessories as well as the specialty market exclusive build- a Electric chair! This 7" depiction of the TV icons is proof-positive of DST's dedication to bringing these icons to collectors. The Select version includes an exclusive detailed accessory not available to the Mass Market!

So it looks like this set kicks off with Herman, Lilly and Grampa, which by process of elimination leaves Eddie and Marilyn for...October 2012?! I hope not. The Universal Monsters roll out happens every October, and the Munsters seems to be following suit, so it would stand to reason series two would follow next year, but with a Build-A-Lectric Chair in play, perhaps we'll see the rest of the family a little sooner.

Lil Thor

It seems like only yesterday when some guys were playing a big football game I didn't watch and in between all that ruckus was a commercial starring lil Darth Vader, honing his Sithy skills around the house. He attempts force pushes, mind tricks, throwing lightning..all to no avail until he discovers he has sway over AUTOMOBILES!! Hey... everyone has to start somewhere, and having car starter powers can come in handy in the rain. Now, Marvel Comics and Paramount Studios seeks to one-up the tiny black robed minion of evil with the power of LIL THOR!!! The commercial goes much the same way as the Vader one does until you hit the twist (and what a tweest it is!) Enjoy!

NECA's SDCC Exclusives

Hasbro gave us a big fat taste of their geektastic SDCC exclusives at Toy Fair, most likely striking first blood in that arena, but honestly SDCC is so big right now someone else could have announced their goods before then and I don't have the energy to go check...so...let's move onnnn. Don't look at me like that. NECA step front and center and leaked their SDCC exclusives (very quietly) to those communists across the water, who then rubbed the fact in our face. Bastards. Here's the skinny..

Classic Predator in "Gort" Mask: The original 1987 version of the Predator with the original prototype mask not used on screen but known to Predator fans worldwide, the “Gort” mask; as seen in behind the scenes footage and the Stan Winston “Winston Effect” book. Classic Predator also includes a newly sculpted left hand holding a skull and spine trophy.

Gears of War 3 Marcus Out of Armor: The first figure from the highly anticipated sequel coming this Fall. Marcus is a brand new figure loaded with articulation and a brand new torso out of armor, not available anywhere else. Marcus also comes with a gold version of the Retro Lancer accessory.
Gremlins Gizmo Comic Con Edition: From the brand new re-launch of the Gremlins line comes this special edition Comic-Con Gizmo. Gizmo comes with sunglasses to protect himself from the bright lights and the California sun along with a special lanyard badge for his Comic-Con attendance and a tote bag that Gizmo can be placed inside to hide from the Gremlins or from
the crowds of fanboys and girls in San Diego.

Pictures coming soooon. San Diego Comic Con is July 21-24th. Keep watching this blog/website/bitching post for listings of the 500 or so bobble heads you'll be able to buy there.

I'm On the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Mother Fucker

Way better than a boat. Way. Today, JOINSHIELD.COM became active and altered me that after rigorous testing, I would be considered for agent status. A component of this sign up has the system accessing your Facebook account, at which time it plucks your main picture for your ID badge. In my case, this is an image of my cameo in "The Shining" where I was caught conferring with a friend who was wearing his favorite bear suit. I agree, this image makes for an awesome ID picture. After some clicking around you are given a S.H.I.E.L.D. insider's POV on the situation in Puente Antiguo, New Mexico where a large crater was discovered to hold an alien artifact. The item resembles a medieval metal working hammer or two handed weapon but the alloy resists all testing methods as even diamond tipped sampling devices can not take a slice. The item is also emitting electro-magnetic interference, so S.H.I.E.L.D. agents have been advised to stay in their cars, which are shielded...and are from Acura. After a quick game of "find the anomaly" utilizing a grid map and a spy drone, you get the bump to Level 1 and can continue on your missions! This most likely means you can see further video, images and enter contests. The real question you will be asking after first glance is "Is this one big commercial for Acura?" Nope, thankfully. After you pick your S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicle of choice, leveling up gives you upgrades to your car with some nifty computer generated effects, so its not like they are trying to sell you the damn thing every 3 minutes. Join S.H.I.E.L.D. today and blast a Hydra agent in the face for dear old Uncle Sam (Jackson), won't you?

New Images from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

It's almost over..and I see you wizard groupies sobbing all over the internets already. To further heighten your sensitivity to the inevitable conclusion and thusly, broadening our ability to identify those who we can pick on for being big baby kittens, I bring unto you....NEW PICTURES!! Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, we see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint charging into the breach once more as Harry, Hermione and Ron taking on Lord Voldermort, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange and an army of black robed fiends set on world domination and the destruction of MUGGLEKIND!!! We've also got a picture of a battle damaged Neville Longbottom, which we've kept at its original size so all the ladies in the house can finally have their Neville computer wall paper. Enjoy!!

Do The VOLTRON!

On one hand, I applaud NickToons for promoting the hell out of their upcoming Voltron Force cartoon (coming this June), but I can't abide by laziness. We have a new video called "Let's Voltron". The name suggests we'll be introduced to some awesome new dance I will instantly fall in love with, want to master and then take to the hottest clubs in New York City to spread like a particularly nasty make-out rash. Do we get that? Noooo. We get some kids dancing along to a guy going "WOO! WOO!" like he's Will Smith and flashing the occasional image of the mighty lion-bot. BAA. Get back in the studio and have Wu-Tang Clan whip out the most awesome homage to a killer 80's cartoon you've ever heard. After that, you can just swing your arms around in a sword slashing, double fisted motion (like a modified cabbage patch) and no one will give a damn because the track will be so scorchin. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

Voltron Force, is the first original franchise-related television content in 10 years and is scheduled to debut on Nicktoons in 2011, with WEP and Classic Media producing along with leading Hollywood production company Kickstart Productions (Wanted, Wolverine and the X-Men).

Voltron, the original robot-action series, is the story of five space explorers who pilot incredible robotic lions that combine to form Voltron, an invincible guardian sworn to defend the universe. Voltron Force will follow a group of new recruits on their once-in-a-lifetime chance to battle alongside the original group of heroes led by Commander Keith in the Black Lion and Allura in the Blue Lion. The new series will consist of 26 half-hour episodes of 2D and CGI animation and will have all the thrilling excitement of robot lions in action, combined with compelling storylines and the dynamic, relatable characters that made the original series so popular. Voltron Force promises to be an excellent co-viewing opportunity where lifelong Voltron fans can now share the experience with their own children.

In addition, Mattel is developing a new line of Voltron toys for fans of all ages. Mattel’s toy offerings will appeal to adults who grew up with the popular ‘80s series, as well as a new generation of fans that Voltron Force will create.

“I am thrilled to partner with Classic Media as we introduce Voltron to a new generation of fans,” said Ted Koplar, President, WEP. “Classic Media’s exceptional brand management capability will play an integral role in the highly-anticipated relaunch of this classic property.” Koplar continued, “Voltron’s legacy of innovative and iconic toys is in great hands with Mattel, whose vision promises to re-imagine and re-invigorate Voltron toys like never before.”

“We are delighted to be a strategic partner of WEP’s on the revival of such an iconic brand as Voltron and greatly look forward to working with Kickstart Productions in bringing this new animation series to all of our key international partners across broadcast and home entertainment,” said Chloe van den Berg, EVP, International, Classic Media.

The Spider-Man is Dead. Long Live the Spider-Man!

What's hotter than super hero death right now? Nothing I tells ya! Marvel Comics had juuuuust croaked Spider-Man of the Ultimate Universe but immediately realized the show must go on. In the real world, we die every day and someone has to stand up and take up our lazy corpse's slack. In Marvel comics, they go one step further by putting on your mask on some poor sod and have him kick baddie ass in your name. TRIBUTE!

Marvel has announced that after the shocking events of Death of Spider-Man, the sold out storyline currently running through Ultimate Comics Spider-Man and Ultimate Comics Avengers Vs Ultimates, there will be a new Spider-Man and a new character under the mask. Something’s happened to Peter Parker and here comes an all-new Spider-Man…in an all-new costume!

“We called this story Death of Spider-Man for a reason,” said Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor In Chief. “This is a huge story that’ll have fans around the world talking for a long time as we set the stage for the debut of our new Spider-Man.”

The Ultimate Universe is irrevocably changed with the conclusion to Death of Spider-Man in June’s polybagged Ultimate Spider-Man #160, but right now you can get in on the red-hot story that leads to the birth of an all-new Spider-Man, including new printings of the sold out issues: And to make sure you don’t miss a single chapter, pick up all the acclaimed issues below:

Batman: Brave and the Bold Season 1 Part 2

The second collection of the newest Batman animated series has hit stores. This incarnation of your favorite Bat takes the sort of "BIF-BAM-POW" fun of the 60's live action series, set against a pile of well written stories and featuring team ups mining an endless well of fantastic, varied heroes battling DC Comic's rich pool of villains. At times, the subject matter is surprisingly adult, dealing with themes including death, the urge to procreate and leave behind a legacy, the true motives behind being a hero and even how love can expose your every weakness. HEAVY STUFF! At the same time, the show implements a jazzy soundtrack and keeps things moving at an excellent pace to compliment the action without tugging you along like a lost, distracted puppy. A healthy dose of cleaver, light banter also helps to lighten the mood, coupled with scenarios and long forgotten D list baddies that just may make you involuntarily spit out your drink.

Crazy Quilt. Calendar Man. The Calculator. Hammer Toes. Kite Man. Baby Face. These are just some of the awesome cast of baddies that take The Dark Knight from brooding sentinel of justice to slightly comical warden in a world gone completely over the deep end. Let's face it..not everyone can be a Zod or Lex Luthor or more specifically, Two Face or The Joker. The world is full of unique individuals and when the wackiest of the masses choose a life of crime but are a bit creatively challenged, you get a guy like Killer Moth wearing striped tights and neon colors. If your intention is to burn out the retinas of a perusing police force, then mission accomplished. In a fairly daring turn, almost mirroring comics' current penchant for taking lame characters and reinventing them to be deeply disturbing, insidious masters of chaos or outstanding heroes, Brave and the Bold parades these characters on the stage in all their pathetic glory. You can't help but applaud.

For those further looking for something a little different, this collection of cartoon episodes has two stand out moments. The first stars Bat Mite, an interdimensional being of God like power who also happens to be Batman's biggest fan. With a character that can make any thought reality, you get a handful of Bat-incarnations, every laughable villain under the printed DC sun and even a moment where attendees at a full on comic con are polled to see if his creations are TOO over the top to still be taken seriously. The second moment stars a baddie called The Music Meister, voiced (and sung) by Neil Patrick Harris, who controls the mind of any living creature through song. This episode will surely give you Sam Raimi Xena/ Joss Whedon Buffy flashbacks, though the songs themselves aren't nearly as good. Still, there's a lot of fun to be had watching Gorilla Grodd dance with Aquaman. On a scale of originality, this one gets a 12!

With team ups including Blue Beatle, Huntress, Jonah Hex, Red Tornado, The Demon, Booster Gold, Robin, The Outsiders, OMAC, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Wildcat, The Question and more, there is no way you can go wrong. Add to this the fact that you can get 13 episodes for the low low price of 15 dollars, how can you say no? Batman: The Brave and the Bold is hours of fun, putting any comic book geek into joy-overload with every viewing and even more fun when you take it out for a screening with a bunch of friends. Of course, they'll eventually put these sets together into one whole season with possible extras, so you may want to wait. Whatever your decision, know that this series is a winner, so don't miss the boat!

Meet The GOVERNATOR!!

He's got Captain Planet animation looks, Iron Man's arsenal and a healthy dose of M.A.S.K thrown in for good measure, just to make sure a good cross section of your cartoon youth has been pillaged. He's THE GOVERNATOR...and if this cartoon is actually good, I just might fucking die.

Seriously does anyone expect this to be anything less than a trainwreck we are hoping will be hysterical, at the very least? It takes the combo of Stan Lee AND Arnold Schearzenegger to come up with something this ridiculous and ACTUALLY GET IT MADE. Here's the skinny...

When Governor Schwarzenegger returns to Hollywood and finds a whole new genre of super-villains confronting the world, he decides to become the #1 superhero he’s always played in the movies...only this time, it’s for real! He assembles a team of awesomely brilliant teens to build him a secret lair full of state-of-the-art vehicles, crime-fighting gear, and lots of cool gadgets in this new animated action-comedy series. Arnold is Back! as The Governator, the superhero for the 21st century!

Lots of cool gadgets. Oh. Yea. Let's watch.

Inside Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Will Rodman's (James Franco) pharmacological experiments with chimps leads to the birth of an animal with far superior intelligence and sense of self. As Caesar learns about the world and the inherent evils therein, he sees this isn't a very pleasant place for a being like him. He must make difficult choices to survive and eventually become a leader.

Joe Letteri, Senior VFX Supervisor states clearly that Caesar had to be a real chimp but we also have to see the evolution. He starts out as this happy little animal and as he grows he comes to wonder why he is different than the others and seeks to find his place in the world. Eventually this leads him to his role as a leader. The chimps need to be very life like, but be able to convey the deep drama of the story.

Andy Serkis takes on the daunting task of playing Caesar. After tackling roles like Gollem in Lord of the Rings and King King himself, this should have been a no-brainer! Serkis says this was his most challenging role to date. He remaked that it is one thing to play a chimp but another to play through the evolution of this animal with a father figure in James Franco. "It wasn't just doing the movements that feel like ape movements. He's an Ape plus!" Serkis' Caesar is based on a real chimp names Oliver who many believed may have been a cross between a human and a chimp. There was just something profoundly different about him and people could tell.

For WETA, "Rise" is a huge expansion from a film like King Kong. It's a complex set of problems to overcome from an acting and FX standpoint all at once. Serkis explains " The WOWS aren't in your face." He explains saying the realism in the emotional truth of the content has a far greater impact than any over the top set piece. "This doesn't feel like a visual effects film at all!"

As a fan of the original films, I'm at once insanely excited to see my heroes at WETA taking on the topic but still, a little wary. WETA got very caught up in the emotional content in King Kong and while the result was visually breathtaking, the result with a bit mellow dramatic. Does the movie going public want to see a modern Kong rampaging through the city streets, real as life and twice as terrifying or do they want to explore the gentle side of this great beast as he plays on the ice with his lady love? On that same note, do fans of the franchise want to see a very cerebral take on the ape Caesar discovering the evils of man before finally leading his monkey army against them? We've certainly seen the gonzo, action driven version. Now we'll get the other side. One thing is certain. If ANYONE can make us feel for a chimp, it's WETA and Andy Serkis.

Last year, WETA won an Academy Award for its groundbreaking visual effects work in rendering an entire fantasy world in James Cameron's history-making epic. WETA's work on RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES presented very different challenges and opportunities. In addition to creating a CG character that gives a performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence, WETA is applying some of the technology it developed for Avatar to bring to life a real world - the film is set in modern-day San Francisco - and epic battles on which rest the upended destinies of man and
primate.

Letteri, a five-time Oscar® winner, and Lemmon will provide a look into WETA's process, and explain how working on a Planet of the Apes film has long been the "holy grail" of visual effects wizardry - and a driving force behind their own careers. In addition, visitors to the livestream event will hear from other RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES filmmakers, including director Rupert Wyatt, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the work of actor Andy Serkis, whose nuanced performance is playing a key role in WETA's rendering of Caesar, the film's principal ape character.

A five-second preview of WETA's work on RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is available on the film's official Facebook page: (http://www.facebook.com/ApesWillRise)

In the film's story, a single act of both compassion and arrogance leads to a war unlike any other -- and to the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. It stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo and Andy Serkis as Caesar. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing for Chernin Entertainment under its pact with Fox. Rupert Wyatt
is directing from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, who are also producing.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES opens in theaters everywhere August 5, 2011.

Get Hammered with Thor at 711

I am a simple man. I like my couch to be stain resistant and comfortable over all, the rest of my furniture to withstand a modicum of "play wrestling" and my fancy drink ware to feature movie heroes leaping into lenticular action. 711 has my hook up for that last bit, filling my growing collection with Terminators, Hulks, Weapon X's and Venoms over the years. Now...they lay the hammer down.

Blue Lightning Blast: A thunderous blast of Raspberry and Tangerine from the fine folks at Hawaiian Punch! Drop the hammer on your tongue with a thunderous new taste that could only have come directly from the magical world of Asgard. Side effects include a blue tongue and a powerful compulsion to wear tights and grow your hair out.

As a bonus to the festive tongue, you can redeem your Slurpee points for downloads like wallpapers and behind the scenes vid as well as a movie poster for your real wall in the really for real world. HAZAAAHH!

"In addition to the in-store promotion, special cups and straws, 7-Eleven has added an interactive social aspect with its recently launched Slurpee smart phone app. During the month of April, the app will be re-imaged with a Thor overlay, and visitors will be invited to check in via Foursquare at 7-Eleven stores around the country. With every check-in, Slurpee fans will accumulate prizes and Slurpee Rewards points redeemable by phone or at www.slurpee.com.

Prizes include Thor mobile phone backgrounds, a Thor badge that shows up on the app with check-in, a one-month subscription to Marvel's digital comics and a 30-minute session with Slurpee secretary, 7-Eleven's online concierge service that provides services ranging from answering trivia questions to reporting on sports scores to helping with homework.

Thor fans also can use their Slurpee rewards points to view a three-minute, behind-the-scenes video on the making of the movie, produced by Marvel. The documentary short is available exclusively to 7-Eleven's Slurpee Rewards participants (www.slurpee.com) April 1-15, after which Marvel will release the piece publicly.

7-Eleven has created 10 different collectible cups for its Slurpee and Big Gulp beverages, including two limited-edition molded plastic mugs featuring Thor and the Destroyer, one of the villains in the movie. Among the eight collectible cups are featured Thor's nemesis and step-brother Loki, and Sif, a goddess who carries a big sword ... and a torch for Thor.

Aptly-named Blue Lightning Blast, the bright, turquoise blue Slurpee flavor is described as a thunderous blend of raspberry and tangerine flavors made by Dr Pepper.

Character spoon-straws have been growing in popularity since 7-Eleven introduced them four years ago. For April, exclusive spoon-straws feature the same four movie characters as the cups - Thor, Destroyer, Loki and Sif - in action-figure form for a suggested retail price of $1.99 each.

"There's a reason for the particular success of Super Heroes at 7-Eleven," said Rita Bargerhuff, 7-Eleven, Inc. vice president and chief marketing officer. "Our customers are both enthusiastic supporters of action-hero movies and Slurpee-lovers. They relish a first peek at movies and enjoy supporting products that resonate with them. These fans appreciate the chance to engage in ways that are meaningful and fun and that also build anticipation for a movie's release."

It's An Adventure Timepiece!!

My favorite cartoon of the moment doesn't have much merchandising, but it seems people are noticing its popularity and lack of doodads for the kiddies to scoop up with their ill gotten funds, so plans are in motion to change all that. I hear SOMEONE is even making Adventure Time action figures!! Until this glorious reveal, our friends at Cartoon Network send word of a new watch that has me scratching my head..sort of like the 3 shells in Demolition Man.

What time is it? Beginning this month, NYC-based fashion design lab Nooka is your hook up for the answer. The highly-creative and innovative maker of watches has partnered with Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE), the global licensing and merchandising arm of the network, to create a limited-edition timepiece based on
Adventure Time, the fun, irreverent new series from creator Pendleton Ward that has people everywhere saying things like “algebraic,” “mathemagical” and “rhombus!” With the limited edition watch set to launch in April and available for the suggested retail price of $120, the Adventure Time with Finn and Jake watch from Nooka features graphics and colors inspired by Jake, human Finn’s loveable canine companion and best friend.

“One of the most defining and charming qualities of Adventure Time is its unique tone and quirky sense of humor that has resonated with a wide range of audiences across all ages,” said Pete Yoder, vice president of Cartoon Network Enterprises. “Building on the original style, we have partnered with Nooka to create a product that is truly unique and captures the fun and creativity of the brand for our older, fashion-forward fans.”

“I am in full awe of Pendleton’s talents – Adventure Time is a breath of fresh air that is inspiring to me as a creative genius – making this opportunity incredibly exciting on a personal and professional level,” said Matthew Waldman, C.C.C. [chief creative czar] of Nooka.

About the Nooka watch, Adventure Time creator Ward added, “I think they’re math.”

Nooka’s innovative approach to representing time has become synonymous with its line of watches. The popular Zot presents a truly unique yet intuitive way of reading time. The 12 dots represents the current hour, while the horizontal bar displays the minutes, with a small window displaying seconds underneath. Set on top of a polyurethane band, the Zot features an alarm and chronograph mode.

From the mind of Pendleton Ward, Adventure Time is produced in partnership with Frederator Studios with Fred Seibert serving as an executive producer on the series. Ooo is a land built for adventure. Teeming with imposing mountains, lush green plains, accessible forests, ubiquitous prairies and winding rivers, the cities and towns are filled with bizarre characters in need of unique assistance. Whether it’s saving Princess Bubblegum, defeating zombie candy, mocking the “oxy-moronic” Ice King, or rocking out with undead music wiz Marceline the Vampire Queen, with Finn & Jake it’s always Adventure Time.

Since its debut on Cartoon Network in April 2010, Adventure Time has quickly become a Cartoon Network fan favorite, with more than 17.2 million kids – not to mention 20 million adults – tuning in to catch the series’ first season, according to Nielsen Media Research. New episodes from the second season currently air on Cartoon Network Monday nights at 8:00 p.m. (ET, PT). Highly popular apparel and accessories can also be found at select retailers nationwide.

Own ALL The Blu-ray Superman Your Brain Can Handle

I swear these boxed sets are like The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, which is not to say they are like an awesome spaghetti western. No, my fellow geeks. We all know too well that when Hollywood gets their hands on a super hero for too long, they go from awesome to hurtful as a sort of twisted evolution. Oddly enough, over time, the most hurtful of the installments become seen as "campy" and a "guilty pleasure"...and are even turned into drinking games like "every time you see a Bat-nipple, take a shot!" With this knowledge in hand, we present to you the Superman Blu-ray Anthology Boxed Set, featuring The Good of Superman 1 and 2, The Bad of Superman 3, The Ugly of Superman Returns and the bafflingly ridiculous known as Superman IV The Quest For Peace. Never the less, if you are a die hard DC fan, super hero buff or just a connoisseur of men in tight primary clothing, YOU MUST OWN THIS SET. Don't fight it.

Coming June 7th, in superb hi-def, with new digital/hi-def film masters, the must-own comprehensive Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology (1978-2006) on Blu-ray includes all six versions of the films in the original Superman theatrical franchise -- Superman: The Movie – Original Theatrical, Superman: The Movie – Expanded Edition, Superman II – Original Theatrical, Superman II – The Richard Donner Cut, Superman III – Original Theatrical, Superman IV – Original Theatrical, plus Superman Returns. The Collection also boasts 20 hours of bonus features including the never-before-seen original opening to Superman Returns. Also included are two documentaries in hi-def, Look, Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman and The Science of Superman, as well as You Will Believe: The Cinematic Saga of Superman, deleted scenes, and much more. Fan-boys and technophiles will especially appreciate that all of the Superman films are being released with English DTS-HD-MA soundtrack for superior sound quality. Also included is Movie Cash good up to $8 off one admission ticket to see the newest Warner Bros. superhero film, Green Lantern, at participating theaters between June 17, 2011 and July 3, 2011. The eight-disc collection will be available for $129.95 SRP. Orders are due May 3, 2011. Here's whats inside:

Superman: The Original Theatrical Movie (1978) and Expanded Edition (2001)

A box-office smash, an Academy AwardĂ’ winner and a fan favorite since it first flew into theatres in December 1978, Superman: The Movie assembles a cast and creative contingent as only a big movie can. At its heart (just as in three sequels) is Christopher Reeve’s intelligent, affectionate portrayal of a most human Man of Steel.

Variety called Superman “a wonderful, chuckling, preposterously exciting fantasy.”

The movie’s legacy soared even higher when director Richard Donner revisited this beloved adventure 22 years later and integrated eight additional minutes into the film. Enjoy more footage of the Krypton Council, a glimpse of stars of prior Superman incarnations, more of Jor-El underscoring his son’s purpose on Earth and an extended sequence inside Lex Luthor’s gauntlet of doom. Reeve, Marlon Brando (Jor-El), Gene Hackman (Luthor) and Margot Kidder (Lois Lane) give indelible performances that fuel the film’s aura of legend.

Superman II (1980 and The Richard Donner Cut)

“I thought the original Superman was terrific entertainment,” the Chicago Sun-Times’ Roger Ebert wrote, “and so I was a little startled to discover that I liked Superman II even more.” Unwittingly released from Phantom Zone imprisonment, three super-powered Kryptonian criminals (Terence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O’Halloran) plan to enslave Earth – just when Superman (Christopher Reeve) decides to show a more romantic side to Lois Lane (Margot Kidder). Gene Hackman (as Lex Luthor) also returns from the first film and with a top supporting cast, witty Richard Lester direction and visuals that astound and delight.

Superman II -The Richard Donner Cut delighted fans who, for years, had been imploring Warner Home Video to release the Donner cut. In fact, the director had already shot most of the Superman II footage during Superman: The Movie. But as production on the sequel continued, creative differences between the director and the film’s producers became irreconcilable and Donner left the project. Although Richard Lester was hired to finish production, he chose to make major changes to the film, leaving only vestiges of Donner’s original vision and concepts in the version of Superman II that was ultimately released to theaters.

Nearly thirty years later, Warner Home Video was delighted to grant the wishes of countless Superman fans. With this DVD release, Richard Donner had become the first director in history to be able to complete a film he left during production with nearly all his footage “in the can.” Adding back a substantial amount of that unused footage, the director has seen his original vision restored and brought to fruition.

Most notably, the “Donner cut” restores the Marlon Brando role, filmed for, but not included in the final theatrical release version of Superman II. The legendary Brando’s performance as Jor-El has finally been restored in key scenes that amplify the Superman lore and deepen the profound relationship between father and son.

With so many other changes, large and small, including a variety of Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) schemes to unmask Clark Kent as Superman, this Superman II proved to be an eye-opening experience and an important addition to film history.

Superman III Theatrical Version (1983)

After Superman: The Movie’s epic storytelling and Superman II’s awesome battles, how could the first two hits be topped? In Superman III, meet Gus Gorman (Richard Pryor), a half-witted computer programming natural. For him a keyboard is a weapon – and Superman faces the microelectronic menace of his life. Christopher Reeve reprises his most beloved role, deepening his character’s human side as Clark Kent reunites with old flame Lana Lang (Annette O’Toole) at a Smallville High class reunion. And when Superman becomes his own worst enemy after Kryptonite exposure, Reeve pulls off both roles with dazzling skill. Incredible visual effects abound – but above all it has heart, heroism and high-flying humor. All in superabundance.

Superman IV The Quest For Peace Theatrical Version (1987)

Christopher Reeve not only dons the cape for the fourth time but also helped develop the movie’s provocative theme: nuclear disarmament. “For me, it’s the most personal of the entire series,” Reeve said. “It directly reflects what Superman should be, and should be doing.” Superman does a lot this time around. To make the world safe for nuclear arms merchants, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) creates a new being to challenge the Man of Steel: the radiation-charged Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow). The two foes clash in an explosive extravaganza that sees Superman save the Statue of Liberty, plug a volcanic eruption of Mount Etna and rebuild the demolished Great Wall of China.

Superman Returns (2006)

He's back. A hero for our millennium. And not a moment too soon, because during the five years (much longer in movie-fan years!) Superman sought his home planet, things changed on his adopted planet. Nations moved on without him. Lois Lane now has a son, a fiancé and a Pulitzer for "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." And Lex Luthor has a plan that will destroy millions - no, billions - of lives.

Filmmaker Bryan Singer (X-Men) gives the world the Superman it needs, honoring the legend everyone loves while taking it in a powerful new direction. Brandon Routh proves a perfect choice to wear the hero's cape, leading a top cast that includes Kate Bosworth as Lois and Kevin Spacey as Lex. And the thrills - from a sky-grapple with a tumbling jumbo jet to a continent-convulsing showdown - redefine Wow.
